Family Fun- Lights in the Park

We went to the Lights in the Park tonight. The kids loved it. We even made a stop at the Park Playhouse and Ava had her face painted, and sat on Santa's lap.
Dean, on the other hand, apparently only likes Santa from a distance! :)

1st day of Half-Marathon Training (W1D1)

I've decided to train for my first half-marathon!! I am so excited! A few girlfriends (Bridget, Felice, Amanda) have already signed on, with a few more seriously considering it (Jen, Jackie, Alyssa, Suzy, Sandra).

The race is 4/2/11 in New York City - Queens, actually. The course is supposed to be gorgeous, and flat. That flat part was high on my requirements list for my first half-marathon. Here's a link for the race: 13.1 NYC.

Here's a blurb about the course:
The 13.1® New York will be run within historic Flushing Meadows Corona Park, home of the 1939 and 1964 World's Fair. The race begins in front of Arthur Ashe Stadium the venue that hosts the US Tennis Open. As your running tour begins you wind through the park passing the New York Hall of Science, the Queens Wildlife Center, and the Unisphere. At the southern end the course loops around Meadow Lake, returning back into the park for a second loop and finishing in the shadow of the Unisphere for a great post race party.

So, I have a long 16-week training plan that starts out very easy. Week 1 consists of a 3, 3.5, and 4-mile run. I am hoping to take it slow and praying that I don't get injured again. Fingers crossed! I love having a goal to work toward!!

Dean's 18 Month Stats

"The boy" is officially a year and a half. I took him to the Dr today for a shot and a weigh in.

Here are his stats:
Weight - 26.8 pounds (58%)
Height - 34 inches (85%)
Head - 19 inches

Our little man is getting so big! In an attempt to keep up with all of our "goings on", I'm gonna try to get back into this blogging gig. That is, if I can stop chasing him (and his sister) long enough. We shall see!

First Day- Pre-K

Today was Ava's first day of Pre-K. She was so excited.
Seems everything went excellent, I'm so happy!

She came home with 2 art projects, a homework binder and a library book. She was eager to tell me that her helper job today was passing out the cups at snacktime. We've already read the book and her homework is finito. Yay!

Here are some pics that I took before and after school. As you can see, she was really determined to show her backpack in her pics! =)
When I dropped her off...checking out the pet guinea pig, Lilly.
When I pulled up at the end of the day they were outside on the playground. Here's a few pics of them lined up to go back inside.

Took this video 8/31/09.
This is what Dean does when he is finished eating. He brushes his hands together and says his version of, "All Done."
I just love this kid!
