365 days

We've officially been in our house for a year! How did that happen?
In some ways, I feel like we just moved in. In other ways, I can't believe how much has changed around here. Granted, we still have much that we want to accomplish as far as the house goes, but it's crazy to look back at the pictures we took before it was "Our Home".

I remember wondering in those first few weeks, even months, if I would ever feel "at home". We were barely home last August, so that played a small part, at least at first. But still, it took a few good months. I don't know exactly when it changed, but it did. Thank goodness! It's an adjustment for sure. It takes time to make a house a home.

Ava used to ask us when we were going home. That was hard. The first time I drove her by our old house she cried and wanted to get out. I'm so glad that is all behind us. Occasionally she still asks to drive by our old house but now she is disconnected and it's a happy trip. Our new neighborhood has turned out to be really friendly and that has been a nice surprise...lots of events and parties going on. Great people, lots of kids.

There have been some mini transformations around here for sure...namely, the removal of much of the hand painted artwork! Sadly, it isn't all gone yet, but believe me, it will be! We've painted most of the walls and most of the woodwork, including doors, closets, windows, trim, etc. We've put up a fence and changed out light fixtures. The "S" is gone! We've hung all new blinds and window treatments. We've almost changed out all of the light switches, switch plates and outlets. I say "we"...obviously, Chet has done most of the manual tasks, but I haven't been too far.

The year ahead if sure to be full of lots of new & exciting changes around here. We can't wait to welcome Baby D to our home and see how our house feels with a "Party of 4" within it's walls. Cheers to a year in our new home!
